Our story

We took the number every CISO wants, and made it our name.

Egress is data leaving your environment. It is the line item on every cloud bill, the clause in every security review and the risk in every AI rollout. We set it to zero.

Nothing Leaves.
Belief
AI comes to your data. Your data does not go to the AI.

Why we exist

It started with a pattern, not a product

This story did not start with a technology. It started with a pattern our founders kept hearing, conversation after conversation, sitting across from enterprise leaders trying to bring AI into their business.

The enthusiasm was never the problem, and neither were the use cases. Most leaders could describe exactly where AI would help before the meeting even started. What stalled, almost every time, was everything that had to happen next: getting a use case approved, deployed and trusted enough to actually run. And when a rollout stalled, it was rarely the model's fault.

Every conversation about AI in a regulated business eventually arrives at the same wall: where does our data go? Cloud AI's honest answer is often "to us." Ours is different: nowhere.

Zegress is built from the phrase that defines us: zero egress. In infrastructure language, egress is data leaving your environment. It is the line item on every cloud bill, the clause in every security review and the risk in every AI rollout. We took the number every CISO wants on that measure, zero, and made it our name.

Your documents stay on your infrastructure. Your index stays inside your perimeter. Your questions are answered by AI where the data already lives, behind your firewall, under your rules, even when the internet is physically switched off.

Nothing leaves.

The argument

Five beats, in this order

Skip one and the story stops making sense. Every asset we produce answers these, and so does every conversation we have.

BEAT 01

Problem

Enterprise AI adoption stalls at one question: where does the data go? The blocker is almost never the model, the use case or the appetite.

BEAT 02

Belief

AI should move to the data, not the data to the AI. Once you accept that, most of the architecture follows.

BEAT 03

Name and promise

Zero egress, made literal. Nothing leaves: not the documents, not the index, not the permissions that govern them.

BEAT 04

Proof

Architecture, deployment options and governance that make the promise checkable rather than claimed. Air-gapped operation demonstrated with the internet physically switched off.

BEAT 05

Vision

A world where no organisation trades AI for control of its own data.

Direction

Purpose, mission and vision

Three distinct statements. One coherent direction.

Purpose

To make advanced AI usable wherever sensitive information cannot leave.

Mission

Enable organisations to deploy useful enterprise AI inside their own security boundary, without compromising control, sovereignty or resilience.

Vision

A world where every organisation can benefit from AI without surrendering custody of its data.

North-star outcome

Zegress becomes the default architecture and category name for AI deployments in regulated, sovereign, air-gapped and security-conscious environments.

Core values

The behaviours behind the promise

Six values, and what each one actually means when there is a decision to make.

01

Your Rules

Customers keep custody, policy authority and deployment choice, always. The boundary is theirs, not ours.

02

Usefully Curious

We ask "why not" before we accept "that is how it has always been done", then solve the real adoption barrier rather than the theoretical one.

03

Agility

We move at the pace the technology moves, changing course quickly rather than defending yesterday's plan.

04

Learn Faster

Fail fast, learn faster. Every misstep is data, not a verdict.

05

Collaborative

The best answer is rarely the first one, and rarely just one person's. We win with customers, channel partners and technology allies.

06

Humble

Confident in the architecture, not the ego.

Behavioural rule

Never trade trust for attention. Distinctive does not mean reckless; confident does not mean exaggerated.

Why the zebra?

No two zebras have the same stripes.

Stripe, the Zegress zebra, wearing purple sunglasses

Each pattern is unique to the animal that carries it. It is an identity, not a decoration.

We think about enterprise knowledge the same way. Every organisation has its own body of it: decades of documents, contracts, policies, customer records, intellectual property and the expertise of the people who wrote them. No two estates are alike, and the pattern of who may see what is part of what makes each one distinct. Increasingly, businesses want AI to unlock the value inside that knowledge.

Why should using AI mean handing your data to the AI? The conventional route copies, migrates or ingests your information into another platform before AI can work with it. The copy raises the questions that stop projects: security, sovereignty, permissions, duplication and cost.

Zegress.Ai takes the opposite route. K-Lake lets AI work with the information already held in your environment, under the permissions and controls already in place, without moving it into the AI platform. Your information remains yours. Your controls remain intact. The pattern stays where it formed.

AI comes to your data. Your data does not go to the AI. That is why the zebra fits Zegress: unique knowledge, a distinct identity, and a boundary that stays intact. The stripes in our mark are that idea abstracted, and the name says the same thing in infrastructure language. Zegress is zero egress. Stripe, the character, carries the personality in our campaigns; the architecture carries the proof.
